The Pocono Mountains/Endless Mountains extend across an area of Pennsylvania famously
rich with forests and wildlife. You'll dip into a piece of paradise when you cast
your rod in these northeastern waters. Resources for anglers abound. Places like
Pecks Pond Rentals, Inc. offer boat rentals and more. TripsUSA is a valuable reference
to anglers stopping through the area in need of a guide, boat, or lodging.
Before you go, visit the Pennsylvania
Fish and Boat Commission
Web site to find the latest about seasons, laws, and licensing, as well
as stocking information.

When
you venture to Stevens Lake, Wyoming County, you may have to compete with a few
otters for a catch! These playful animals mingle with the abundant panfish in
the lake such as black crappie, yellow perch, bluegill, bullheads, and white catfish.
The angler with larger eyes should look towards Lily Lake in Luzerne County. Trophy-size
chain pickerel and northern pike swim these waters in early spring. Shohola Lake
is an expansive lake located in Pike County where your odds are pretty good for
plucking a largemouth bass from these clean waters.
The Poconos offer a broad range of accommodations including impressive resorts
like the Crescent Lodge, an award-winning country inn, and Fernwood Hotel and
Resort. Try a more modest room at the Comfort Inn, at Lake Ariel, or test the
lullaby effect of star-studded skies at Slumber Valley Campground, which is open
the first weekend of trout season.

Shorefishing
is common along the banks of the Delaware River in Pike County. There are several
boat launches along the shores including one at Airport Park. Dingmans Ferry takes
a particular interest in its anglers. You can find a unique fishing experience
at the Pennsylvania Fishing Museum. For canoes, kayaks, and rafts, seek assistance
from Kittatinny Canoes, in Dingmans Ferry, who will also provide camping facilities
for overnight excursions.
